There were some great performances locally, nationally and internationally this weekend.

Locally, we had a lot of local athletes competing with many earning medals at the State Indoor Championships at Penn State yesterday.  I believe that all of the local schools had some representation.  Also, our own Danielle Burns PRd at the Sevilla Marathon In Spain(should this be international news?).

Nationally, the NJNY Track Club led 3 other teams under the old world record in the 4 x 800 meter relay at BU yesterday.  Many of those guys have competed at various Henderson meets over the years.  Local star Josh Hoey broke Robby Andrews’ High School record in the 800 meters by running 1:47.67.

Internationally, Amy Cragg ran 2:21:42 at the Tokyo Marathon which was a 6:00 PR and made her the 5th Fastest American Women of All-Time. Japanese star Yuta Shitara ran 2:06:11 to break the Japanese record.  He won $936,000 for that.  That’s a solid pay day.

Pretty impressive running all around for February.  Remember, to break a record, world, national or personal, you have to get in a race.

Here is this week’s training:

5k/10k group-Tuesday-This is the last week of hills.  We’re back at the track at the normal time next week.  3 x long, regular, short.  Friday-3 mile tempo run.  Saturday-8-12 miles.

One City Group-Tuesday-3 x 1600 w/100 jr at MP(= or – :05).  Thursday-2 x 1 mile at MP w/:30 rest on the road.  3 mile WU, 1 mile cool down.  Friday-off.  Saturday-3 miles easy.  Sunday-Race.

B & A marathon-Tuesday-3 x 3200 w/200JR at 10k pace.  Friday-5 miles of tempo.  Saturday-14 miles-it should be at 1:00 slower than MP.

See you out there.
